Banned from face book as a punishment

Last week Bear  banned me from going on face book for a week to see if it improved my moods.  At first I though NO WAY  I can't last a week without checking in each day.  I was allowed to still have contact with our girls via inbox on my phone as this didn't allow me to see what was happening on FB.  To make it easier Bear decided to join me.

Our usual lunch time routine used to be eat lunch, then check our fb on our phones.  Mostly Bear would be tagging me in various things instead of just showing me.  Even though he was sitting right next to me at the table.  So the break from this was fantastic.  We actually communicated more during the week off FB and enjoyed it. Also I managed to get my craft room sorted and heaps of crafts finished. From now on we are limiting our access so we don't spend so much wasted time on there.

During the week though I did have one slip up where I thought I was going to an inbox message from D1 but she had tagged me in a FB message which took me directly into it.  I felt really guilty and confessed to Bear expecting to face the consequences.  To my surprise he said don't worry about it as he had just done the exact same thing.  From then on I was extra careful not to repeat this mistake.

Our week off face book has taught us that it is like having a bucket of water, putting your hand in and pulling it back out.  You haven't left an impression behind.  I was amazed that during the week of my absence no one bothered to contact me to check if I was alright.  Particularly seeing I'm on FB so much and share lots of quotes on there.

Strangely enough once our week was up we found this  dare to stay off for 3 months.  Just have to find someone to pay me the $3 million  and I'm in.  Anyone want to join me?  Although I would miss my blogging friends too much I think.

Hugs Lindy

  1. Hi Lindy, I never go on face book! haven't got an account, don't want one, will never need one! If someone wants me they can pick up the phone and seriously do I want to read all that drivel? Err no thanks. Perhaps I am just out of touch but not interested, neither is hubby, we will just plod on indifferent to the world around us .lol

    1. Hi Jan, sounds a good plan. Bear and I mainly use it to keep in touch with our family. Our girls hate talking on the phone so they message us. Been thinking of you and tried to look for an email address to contact you but couldn't find one. How did you go with the biopsy results? Hope everything is alright.

  2. I've reached the age when I pretty much do what I want. I like face book - I only post occasionally but I keep up with the boys in NYC. I like seeing my friends grand babies. I enjoying seeing who is on my side politically - but I don't feel the need to join the drama myself most of the time. I think I could do without the phone and computer and such and if you actually find anyone giving 3 million for the effort, I'm IN! But until then I'm just going to enjoy my toys,

    1. PK I'll keep you in mind when I find someone willing to fork out the $3 mil. That would make your retirement cozy.
FB is a great way to keep in touch with family. Glad you keep in touch with the boys that way.
Happy thanks giving to you and your family.

  3. I commend you guys. I was threatened with my phone going away several times last evening. I know I'm addicted. However I enjoy connecting with my huge extended family and friends. I try and stay away from politics, it's very alienating and divisive on FB. I do smile when someone says what I think! Lol. It seems like a great idea to do some form of time limit.
We'll need to talk about your craft room!

    1. Oh Minelle what did you do to receive those threats about having your phone taken off you. Spill the beans, you've got me curious.
What did you want to know about my craft room?
Happy thanks giving to you and your family.

  4. I commend you. I could stay off for a bit - I recently did it during my trip to Denver, not sure about three months though. I don't spend a lot of time on FB though.

  5. Lindy,
I am on FB and do enjoy it, but can walk away in a hot minute. Blogland and email on the other hand are a different story. I tend to tunnel right into my laptop. Jack pulls me back usually with a couple of swats.

    1. Yes I'm right into blog land now. Feel like everyone is part of my family. I usually forget to check my emails though and that is how my sisters keep in touch. Oops!
I can just see Jack pulling you back in. Our men are good that way.
Happy thanks giving to you, Jack and your family.

  6. Hey Lindy...the only reason I started on FB was to keep track of my kiddos. I do enjoy sharing giggles and thoughts with and seeing pictures from friends and family but other than that...I could do without it. Since all my bills are set up for paying online, I could not stay offline for 3 months. I also could not stay off the computer and phone for 3 months as that is how I work. Now if they wanted to say...other than for work or paying bills...for 3 million...oh yea...I could do it. ;)

    1. If I find someone willing to agree to that Cat I'll send them your way. FB is good for keeping in touch with our kiddos especially girls who hates phones. Must take after their Mum, LOL!
Happy thanksgiving to you and your family Cat.

    1. Hi Ronnie, I love FB when things are going right and not too much drama. If my girls would chat on the phone it might be different.
