FFF #44

Been running to catch up with the FFF train this week. Well not really, more like crawling like a sloth. LOL! Only accomplished my steps and have done a bit of decluttering.

I need help though please?  I had a medical appointment for some test results this week. Lucky me has managed to add another autoimmune disease to my box of tricks. Anyway the doctor told me I need to lose weight and eat healthily.

Bear was in the surgery with me and we both tried telling the doctor we already do eat a healthy diet. So this is where I need help...….I am still doing the 16/8 fasting as I find it works for me.
My daily diet Monday to Saturday consists of brunch which is rice porridge, yoghurt with fruit. Then for dinner we alternate between red meat and chicken grilled with either steamed or roast vegetables. I very rarely eat between meals, so I can't cut anything out like biscuits, cake or lollies.

Yes ok I do cheat on the odd occasion eating cake but not as often as I would like.

Sundays my brunch is usually either waffles, pancakes or scones which Bear makes for me. Also we have a roast for dinner. Apart from skipping my Sunday treat I can't see how I can eat any more healthier than what I already am.

What would you all suggest to do please?
Also I am unable to exercise properly at the moment due to this new ailment. Oh the joys of growing old!

Hope you have all had a good week.

  2. Lindy,
I, too, have been trying out the 16/8 for maintenance as it lets me enjoy a few more treats. But as for staying honest, I still track what I eat the Weight Watchers way. I know that it is very easy to mess up on portion control.

When I come back from a vacation, I usually have picked up 5-6 pounds. If it doesn't start dropping with my usual food choices, I go back to measuring out portions. It really helps kick start the loss of the extra pounds.

Sending Hugs and Fortitude Down Under!

  3. Hi Lindy, :) I too am sorry to hear that you are dealing with another diagnosis/health issue. That stinks! I hope that your docs can help you to feel better.

Not too sure that I have any good advice. Ella has some good suggestions it looks like. Maybe adjust your portions a bit until you get where you want to be? It is so hard when you can just look at food, and it hits you in the middle! Experienced here...

I think it is great how you get your steps in anyway. Good for you! They say that walking is really best. I so need to begin to do that each day. My weaving has me sitting a lot of the day. I need to get moving more!

I hope that you are feeling better! Many hugs,

    ❤️Katie xoxo

  4. I'm sorry to hear about your health and your docs advice (BTW what did he say, when you told him your eating habits?) IMO you can't eat any healthier or more exactly less. My dad is also doing the 16/8 and he eats three meals, so I think you're really eating very little. I also understand the 16/8 in that you eat 3 meals per day...
Anyway, the only advice I can give - and that's from my WW time - eat differently. It sound like you eat about the same nearly every day. Your body is used to that and doesn't burn the calories so fast anymore. Spice things up - different breakfasts/dinners. At least worth a try. And even if you think some pizza/pasta is unhealthy - try some different things. Also some people at WW said that they lost weight again, when they ate more for some days, so your body has to adjust again... I hope I'm making sense, sorry, but english isn't my native language. Anyway I hope you'll find a good way for you and all the best healthwise.

    1. Thank you ANON. How does your dad fit in 3 meals with the 16/8, I struggle just with the two meals. I don't think the doc believe me when I told him what I ate. Might be a good idea to eat differently, we do tend to stick to the same food. Both Bear and I have food issues so we stick to what agrees with our tummies. I will try to spice things up though.
Makes sense to alternate the amount what I eat. You have a lot of good information, thank you so much.

  5. OH darling I wish i could help.. i'm not sure if you have sensitivites to certain foods, but perhaps lay off the simple carbs and try for complex carbs? oats / barley / quinoa are all "healthier" options... and replace more of the carb portions with other proteins, so fish / soy / eggs? Have a frittata with a ton of eggs and veggies as a main, instead of rice porridge / pancakes / waffles / scones? Try zucchini pasta, cauliflower-base pizza... you can look up recipes on the web i reckon

    1. Thank you so much Fondles. Yes I am coeliac so can't have oats and barley. In Australia we aren't allowed to consume them unless we have a scope before and after to see the damage. I know other countries still eat oats. I don't plan of having a scope for that though.
I do love cauliflower pizza yum. thanks for all you advice I will check out some recipes.

  6. Lindy -- this is perhaps the most frustrating thing about weight loss -- not losing -- but more frustrating is having a doc suggest you lose more!!
My whole life my weight has been an up / down issue.... (mind you I do have an eating disorder)...... BUT what finally helped me loss weight and keep it off was my Fitbit. I always thought I was burning way more calories than what I was. I also used a diet tracker app that synced with the fitbit and told me how many calories I had consumed and the fitbit told me how many I had burned.

That was a real eye opener for me. I managed to lose just over 70lbs in a year using the two .... and I have managed to maintain the weight loss (well 5 pounds either way ) for almost a year. Not sure I have any other suggestions :( Just try not to get too discouraged.

AND a YAY after weeks of not being able to get on your blog seems I can access it again :)

    1. Yay I'm happy you can access my blog again MS. I do have a garmin watch, wonder if that has the calorie counter. I should look into that.
Well done on losing 70lbs, that's fabulous.

  7. I’m so sorry to hear you have another health issue, Lindy. I don’t have any advice for you - do you have access to a nutritionist who could help with your diet? A professional could tailor a regime to meet your specific needs.
Good work keeping up with the steps.

  8. I’m so sorry Lindy! Another health concern?!
I’m with Fondles on reducing inflammation by eating more pure foods like cauliflower rice and zucchini noodles etc. Many people find going Keto really positively impacts their auto immune diseases. I try and follow dietdoctor.coms suggestions.
    Hope things improve soon!

  9. Hi Lindy: No where do I see mention of exercise, eating a vegetarian meal now and then, eating fish or seafood. Portion size is the key idea of weight watchers, so I wonder about the portion you eat of each type of meat.
Maybe a spanking for each pound that you lose, and no spankings if you do not lose a pound a week.

    Good luck
As we age,w e all fight the same weight gain disease.
