Fondle's FFF week 1

Week one,  time to do our check in with Fondles to share our goals for this challenge.

I have a few goals to try to accomplish and really, really need you all to keep me going.  Over Christmas/New Year I let my hair down quite a bit.  Sometimes I think I just have to smell food to  put on weight.

Smell food! Up go the scales.

So I definitely need to get back to my healthier eating that I did last year.  The trouble is I've developed a sweet tooth and my man loves to bake. He thinks he is doing me a favour baking me all sorts of delicious gluten free  treats which are hard to find in the shops. Its hard to say no when he goes to so much trouble.

1.   So my first goal is to tell my Bear  NO MORE PLEASE!  I    know you love me, yet this is not the way to  show me.  One of the problems, in my eyes,  Bear loves me no matter how I look, whether fat, skinny or in between.  If I say to him I'm fat and need to lose weight, his reply is no your not with a swat or two.  Yet for those who have seen him on face book he thinks he is chubby, go figure.  Pffft!  Once I've   accomplished this I can wean myself off treats again and stick to what I know is better for my body.

Australian healthy eating chart.

This year I have two events I want to look reasonably good for.  Ones a bit hard as its in a few weeks, so I think I've left my run a bit late.  The second one is in October, our daughter is getting married at long last.  My goodness her and her fiancé have been together for 12years, the wedding has been on again, off again.  Finally they have decided to tie the knot, so being the mother of the bride I'd like to be able to fit into something attractive on the day. At least with this one I have eight months to achieve my goal.

I've been contemplating buying a fitbit or garmin, so if anyone can tell me about your experience if you own one please?  It would need to be water proof so I can wear it in the pool for mermaids.

2
.  At present I have a three month gold membership at the YMCA, yet only go to mermaids twice a week.  Thinking of increasing this to take some gentle exercise classes and maybe another day of aqua aerobics.  See how my back holds out though, so its one day at a time.

I plan on taking small steps until after my procedure in a few weeks, once I have the results its full steam ahead if the outcome is good. So to sum it all up, I'm eating healthier and increasing my exercise a bit. Hopefully I will lose around 10 kilos over the eight months, more would be nice, we'll see what happens.

3
.  They say a healthy mind is a healthy body, so along with the things above,  I'm (we) are decluttering our house. My goodness we still have things packed in boxes from when we made the big move.  How ridiculous, obviously we don't need these things.  So we are either sending them to the op shop or the tip if no good for anyone.

Breath in  calm your body.......Breath out smile and relax.

4.  My last goal that I can think of at present is to fit at least 10 minutes or more meditation into each day.  I find this keeps me calm and focused.

Good luck to everyone else whose participating, its going to be so much fun encouraging each other.

Have a good weekend everyone.

  1. Hooray for FFF! I thought I missed the first week, glad to know I hadn't/

I haven't had the Fitbit or the Garmin, though I'd love a device like that. People I know swear by both; it depends on who you talk to. If the features you want are included in both, I'd go by price.

    1. Thanks Lea, might have to check out the price and features on both, then decide. Look forward to seeing your check in.

  4. I'm with Baker -- excellent goals.....

As for your question about Fitbit/Garmin -- I have a fitbit have had one for 3 years now... I credit all my weight loss to it and a marvelous app for me phone called My Fitness Pal -- it records exercise and food and keeps track of your calories......

Good luck with your goals and your 'procedure' :)

  6. Oh, I forgot, I got a Fitbit Alta HR for Christmas. I love it. Tracks my steps, heart rate and sleep patterns. I enter my weight and it tells me how that's going - steadily UP since the holidays. It's fun. :)

  7. Hi Lindy,

Great goals! I love that you have included meditation and decluttering as well.

I have the same sweet tooth problem. I once jokingly asked my dentist to extract it lol.

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding, certainly a good motivator. Good luck, I'm rooting for you!

  9. Oh a wedding is great motivation! A kg a mth is a VERY good plan. And so is decluttering and meditating! Looks like you've given this quite a bit of thot! U have also inspired me to cut BIKSS off from my baking and treat supply. I am horrid, trying to encourage him to eat better and yet i bring him treats from my kitchen so often! Ive just told him im not gvg him any more. He said Awww and made a sad face and i said im sorry. But im not sure if im sorry for ruining his diet or cutting him off now... LOL

Tell Bear to start getting inventive with salads. If you have a gluten thing and that has gotten him to look at alternative recipes im pretty sure he'll be glad to look into other foods and dishes that will match your new diet plan!

  11. Lindy, I think you have a solid plan here. I am the one who loves to bake, but neither Sam or I need to be eating sweets. I think I have some new recipients in mind for my baking goodies. Maybe that will help.

Hope Bear will help you support your goals. I couldn't do it without my coach.

  12. Way to go, Lindy! Felicitations to your daughter. I’m hoping mine will tie the knot too, she and her chap have been together 11years. Her parents took that long, so we can’t say too much!

My am I jealous that your man can bake gluten free! That's impressive!
Although, I would have a hard time saying no to it as well.

  15. Hi, Lindy,

It is hard to lose weight when your man offers you tasty treats! Especially with the time and effort yours is putting into it. You have some great goals though. And a great group of people to support you - and each other. I'm glad to be part of it!

  16. Lindy,
I show my love by feeding my pack too, so I get Bear here, and switching from baking to making healthy dinners/salads/snacks took me some mental leaps and practice.

So great of you to focus on feeling healthy and feeling good, you'll get to where you want to be. Cheering you on, Lindy.

  17. My mother always worried about her weight. When I got married, that's what I heard from her a lot: her concern to fit into her mother-of-the-bride dress. I love and tressure the pictures I have of her and I think she looked beautiful then and radiant now. I wish she had expressed her feelings about what she thought about the wedding and her hopes for us in equal meassure to how much she worried over how she looked to us. Good luck with your goals.
